About ACCES
A non-profit organisation called the African Canadian Continuing Education Society (ACCES) offers post-secondary scholarships to assist Kenyan students. With its head office located in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, ACCES is a legally recognised charity that has been incorporated.
In 1993, Beth & George Scott established ACCES with the goal of promoting education. In 1998, a group of ACCES scholarship recipients launched LIFA (Literacy For All), a literacy initiative in underprivileged rural areas lacking access to formal education. Following many government grants for the construction of brick-and-mortar schools, these institutions have subsequently been turned over to the public school system and are flourishing in communities that are also seeing growth as a consequence of the community development initiatives that were funded by the grants.
More than three thousand Kenyans have graduated with ACCES scholarships today, and 14 villages have been empowered to become self-sufficient by an award-winning Kenyan organisation and an alumni association with an endowment fund that sponsors students on its own.
