Chancellor’s Award: $5,000 Renewable:
A scholarship called the Algoma University Chancellor’s Award is offered to foreign high school graduates who are starting their undergraduate studies at the university. $5,000 is awarded as a renewable scholarship each academic year. Students must enrol as full-time learners throughout the Fall and Winter semesters and take a minimum of 15 credits per term in order to be eligible.

Applicants must have an exceptional academic record with a minimum A+ average (or equivalent) in their prior courses in order to be eligible for this grant. Additionally, in order to be admitted, international students must fulfil certain language requirements. For example, they must receive a minimum score on standardised English language assessments such as the TOEFL, Pearson Test of English (Academic), IELTS, Duolingo Test of English (DTE), or Cambridge Assessment of English.
There is a maximum three-year renewal period for the Chancellor’s Award. The scholarship will not be given out or renewed if the requirements are not met in any given year.
President’s Award: $2,500 Non-Renewable:
A non-renewable scholarship called the Algoma University President’s Award is available to foreign high school graduates who are beginning their first year of undergraduate studies. The $2,500 entry scholarship is awarded. During the Fall and Winter semesters, qualified students must enrol full-time and study a minimum of 12 credits each term.
International students who attended an Ontario secondary school and received a grade in their top six Grade 12 U/M courses that they applied for admission must receive a grade of between 80 and 89.9 percent to be eligible for the President’s Award.
Dean’s Award: $1,000 Non-Renewable:
International high school graduates from, starting their university studies are eligible for this award. It is given to students who register full-time and take at least 12 courses per term during the Fall and Winter semesters. It is worth $1,000. Applicants must have received at least a B+ (or its equivalent in their country) on their prior academic record in order to be considered for the Dean’s Award.
Award of Excellence: $500 Non-Renewable:
International high school graduates enrolled in their first year of college studies are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The $500 entry scholarship is awarded. During the Fall and Winter semesters, qualified students must enrol full-time and study a minimum of 12 credits each term.
Applicants must have earned at least a B average (or its equivalent in their nation) on their prior academic record in order to be eligible for the Award of Excellence.
Eligibility Requirements:
- According to Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, international students wishing to be eligible for the aforementioned scholarships must be in possession of a temporary resident visa on the first day of classes.
- The Entrance Scholarship is available to all students who must pay the international differential fee; this includes university transfers, students pursuing a second degree, graduates of colleges with diplomas, and college transfer students.
- To qualify for these scholarships, students must satisfactorily complete all their qualifying requirements in the academic year prior to their enrollment at Algoma University.
- It’s critical to realise that there are never any excuses for deferring international scholarships. The terms and conditions of admission as well as the scholarship offered for the year it was first awarded must be accepted by the students.
- Students who enrol for classes in the Winter or Spring term will not be eligible for rewards in the Fall/Winter semester because the awards require enrollment for two semesters within an academic year.
- The Entrance Scholarships are exclusively available for undergraduate degree programs.
