Before I go, let me quickly use this medium to talk briefly on the admissions list!
What is the admission list?
The admissions list is the list that contains the name of the candidates that have been offered provisional admission into a particular school to study a certain course.
Take, for instance, the University of Lagos UNILAG admission list, which is the list that contains the names of the candidates that have been offered provisional admission into the University of Lagos to study a given course.
Hope you understand?
Okay, the admission list is categorized into two. They are;
- Merit admission list
- Non-merit admission list
What is the merit admission list?
The list of names of applicants who have received admission offers based only on merit is known as the merit list! That is, they run into Mark, who has been cut off from their journey! They are typically the ones who surpass their department’s cut off mark by a significant amount. Consider an applicant who receives a 360 on a course where a 245 cutoff mark is required. An applicant with a score of 255 is not nearly as likely to be on the merit list. Usually referred to as the First List, this list.
What is Non-merit Admission list?
Non-merit Admission List is the list of names of the candidates that have been offered admission who did not meet the cutoff mark of the course they chose during the admission process but somehow managed to meet the general cutoff mark! This list is typically called the second list.
Hope you understand what I mean?
Although, sometimes, those that meet their courses’ cutoff mark can be in the non-merit list, and this is simply because, the gap between the cut-off mark and the candidate’s score is very small!
There is another list called supplementary list and I will classify it under non-merit list.
This list is typically called the third list!
